Ryff

28 Feb

ApocryphaYeah steampunk!

This month I decided to go for a character design, and since I never draw women I wanted to see what I could come up with. Meet Apocrypha, a specialist in solar sail engineering, a part-time bounty hunter, and full-time ass-kicker. She prefers to just go by ‘Ryff.’

I originally wanted to do multiple drawings of her for the submission, but ran out of time. Blast! (I probably should anyway, if I’m looking to actually have it be a character design)

Really excited for this next prompt… ’til then, shipmates!

Monocle

Meet Wolfgang and Leopold Epaulette, possibly the world’s most dapper pair of conjoined twins. Between them, they have one set of eyes with perfectly sharp, 20/10 vision, but each one has extreme myopia in his right eye. Seeing as they both seem pretty sartorially influenced by the Grand Duke in Cinderella, I’m guessing they were pretty excited to adopt monocles over the boring symmetry of glasses.

Digitized pen drawing, with some scanned paper and watercolor textures. Of all the prompts we’ve had so far, I’ve spend the most time sketching/making failed attempts on this one (I originally wanted to do linocut…it’ll happen someday!) but the least time actually making the final drawing.

MONOnuCLEosis

That virus has class! Science class, that is.

This is literally the first thing I ever drew in Photoshop, I believe. Did it as soon as I heard what the post was. Oh, but I did the outlines of the thing in Illustrator and transferred them over.

So I was trying to think of something give a monocle, and my room mate goes “Penguin!” so here he is. Yes I’m aware that he looks like Gunther from adventure time. I promise I didn’t trace it or anything.  This is one of two ideas, the second is coming soon.

Food-Based Wordplay

14 Feb

Not satisfied with only one blog-related outpouring of creative energy, I decided to ramp it up and create a Food-Wordplay-Based Story-Telling Blog! Every couple of days or so I’ll post another chapter of the lives of the Knights of the Table for Five, and their exploits in the Land of Loam (Loam stands for “the Land of Anthropomorphized Meals”).
